The Coast
Giant figures drawn across the desert, best seen from above
A hummingbird, a monkey, a spider and hundreds of straight lines, scraped into the desert floor around 2,000 years ago. A short flight is the only way to see the figures properly. If small planes aren't for you, the roadside viewing tower shows a couple of them.

Ceviche
Raw white fish 'cooked' in lime juice with red onion, chilli and salt, served with sweet potato and corn. Lunch food: Peruvians rarely eat it at night.
Pisco
Grape brandy from the valleys south of Lima. Drink it in a pisco sour, or neat to taste the grape.
